We did not enjoy the fact that we tried to rent the kayak and water byke multiple days and it was never availalble, even tought no one was using it. Also, Okinawa and Kariyushi being a touristic location, should have more staff who can speak English!

no frills business hotel with great water sports options, adjacent convenience store.
There was a great izakaya called 'sea breaze' 3mins walk from the hotel (needs booking) where we got some authentic Okinawan food. after dinner we found it was possible to return to the hotel strolling along the beach. highly recommend this place.
Pity they don't allow swimming around the rocks and coral. safer for kids, but woudl be better if they'd allow grown ups to venture outside of the enclosed swimming area, particularly as the water was very clean and you could see coral etc.
